A Mother’s Day Tribute
A.S. Jayamma’s life was a testament to the belief that true leadership is found in service, whether through her professional calling or within the walls of her home. Her biography, Grit and Grace, highlights how she balanced these roles with a quiet, revolutionary spirit.
Over a 40-year medical career, she served numerous communities and personally assisted in the births of hundreds of children.
She was one of the first women in the district to ride a scooter, using it to reach remote areas regardless of the weather to ensure no one was left without medical attention.
Her visible dedication to her work was so profound that it inspired local children to stay in school and pursue their own educations simply by watching her.
Jayamma practised selfless service by maintaining a "stoic mask". Even while battling a paralytic stroke and stage 4 cancer, she carried her suffering privately to shield her family from the weight of her pain.
Her philosophy of "Simplexity" tied these worlds together: the art of living a simple, gratitude-filled life while remaining a North Star for her family, proving that the duty of care remains constant regardless of distance.
Happy Mother’s Day to the woman who gave everything.
